However, the project never came to fruition as following the death of Catherine, James lost interest in pursuing the seemingly unattainable goal and instead spent his time as a full time parent to the player in Vault 101. Upon leaving Vault 101, James travels to the nearby settlement of Megaton, presumably to gather supplies and rest before continuing on his trek to the Jefferson Memorial, where he was working on Project Purity, a project which was set up with the goal of being able to purify gallons and gallons of the irradiated water en masse thus giving the survivors of the titular fallout access to clean water.
This goes against the wishes of The Overseer who now wants both him and the player dead, leaving little option but for the player's character to flee also. However, the game really begins when James flees from Vault 101 with no apparant motive. Presumably to take the role of both parents following the death of his wife and the player's mother, Catherine. At the start of the game, when the player is born, he is the first person the player interacts with and during the rest of the tutorial segment of the game, he acts as a very supportive father. While there is no surname given, his appearance is set so that there is a family resemblance. You may do whatever you want with this file on the Nexus as long as you credit me.James is the player character's father in Fallout 3 and is voiced by Liam Neeson. UPDATE: The Vault 101 Overhaul patch had a small error. Twice the loot but you probably can't carry it all! If you do run both, these items will be loaded twice and clipped together in the room. It is an esp replacer that adds these items to the same room in his mod. There is also a compatibility patch for Vault 101 Overhaul by crazyplaya. This gear has been setting here a while without maintenance and isn't in the best condition. I had to do something to balance this mod. Included are a couple of unique items that are in the game files but not implemented in the game namely Explorer's Gear clothing and Wanda, a unique assault rifle at 0% condition. There are some guns, ammo, clothing, provisions, and trade goods. After all, reactors can leak, residents can riot, things happen. Since this is a secret room that only the Overseer would have access to, right next to the exit, it seems reasonable that he would want to be prepared if he had to evacuate in an emergency.
